WHO THE PROGRAM ADDRESSES
The open call is addressed to music and musicology students interested in examining the nature, formation, mediation, and consequences of musical ideas. Applicants may be working in composition, performance, theory, analysis, historical musicology, ethnomusicology, sound studies, music technology, pedagogy, artistic research, or related areas. Interdisciplinary and practice-based approaches are welcome.
Projects may begin from a specific work, performance, repertoire, archive, listening practice, analytical problem, compositional method, technological system, cultural question, or broader research trajectory. Participants should be prepared to present work in progress, engage closely with the projects of others, revise their positions in response to discussion, and contribute to a collective research environment.
The programme does not require participants to arrive with a complete philosophy of musical ideas or extensive prior training in philosophy. Its purpose is to establish conditions under which concepts can be articulated, tested, differentiated, and developed through musical practice and research. Intellectual curiosity, critical openness, careful listening, and commitment to sustained exchange are therefore as important as the current state of any individual project.
